Gentle Birth, Gentle Mothering
by sARAH bUCKLEY

This book was first recommended to me by my midwife over 13 years ago.

I read it again when I was pregnant with my middle and then again when I was growing my son. I started this beautiful book for the 4th time to enjoy, learn from, and discuss alongside Collective professionals.

“An experience of the phenomenal capacity of our birthing body can give us an enduring sense of our own power as women. Birth is the beginning of life; the beginning of mothering, and of fathering. We all deserve a good beginning.”

RECLAIMING CHILDBIRTH
AS A RITE OF PASSAGE
BY RACHEL REED

The modern approach to maternity care fails women, families and care providers with outdated practices that center the needs of institutions rather than individuals.

In this book, Rachel Reed weaves history, science and research with the experiences of women and care providers to create a holistic, evidence-based framework for understanding birth.

Reclaiming childbirth as a rite of passage requires us to recognize that mothers own the power and expertise when it comes to birthing their babies!

Cypress oil

Cypress essential oil is both a hemostatic (can stop blood flow by promoting faster clotting) and a styptic agent (prevents excessive loss of blood through contraction of blood vessels).

Blood vessels run between your uterus and placenta. As the placenta comes away from the wall of the uterus and is born there are open blood vessels that bleed.

The uterus continues contracting after birth which squeezes these blood vessels shut but cypress oil can also help to manage the loss of blood.

While using cypress oil prior to the birth of the placenta is best, as long as the mother is actively bleeding cypress essential oil can regulate blood loss!

*Massage diluted cypress oil on the postpartum mother's legs and or feet.
